If you haven't shot with us before, please check the new shooters info on this page. A great
resource if you haven't shot IDPA before is Ted
Murphy's info packet (it's a PDF so you need the Adobe reader.) Ted was match
director for the 2007 IDPA National Championship match and will be for the 2008 Nationals.
Also click the IDPA logo at the top of this page to go to the IDPA website where you can
download the current
rulebook (PDF), back issues of their Tactical Journal magazine, and get other information.
IDPA rules allow new shooters to shoot one match without joining the
International Defensive Pistol Association. After that, you need to be a
member. You can join online on the IDPA website. Membership currently costs $40
per year. |

Defensive pistol shooting as a sport is quite simply the use of
practical equipment including full charge service ammunition to solve simulated "real
world" self-defense scenarios. Shooters competing in Defensive Pistol events are
required to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defense
use. No "competition only" equipment is permitted in Defensive Pistol matches
since the main goal is to test the skill and ability of an individual, not his or her
equipment or gamesmanship.
IDPA stands for The International Defensive Pistol Association. Visit
the IDPA web site for more information about Defensive
Pistol Shooting.
Our favorite pistolsmith and fellow local IDPA shooter is Randy
Lee Click the graphic below to check out his website, or click here
to e-mail him for information.
