Trap & Skeet Shotgun Range

Trap & Skeet
The shotgun range is a public venue dedicated to getting new people involved in shooting sports and keeping long time shooters coming back for more!

We host a Ladies only shooting night every 1st/3rd tuesday evening from 5pm-9pm. It is a great way to introduce women to guns. One on one instruction is provided on the field. BBQ dinner also avaliable.

We have two trap fields, 1 skeet overlay, and have recently added a 5-stand. Trap is a great sport for beginners, and is great for familiarizing anyone from women and children (5 and up) to the world of shotguns. Our trap houses can throw straight singles, oscillating singles, doubles, and double wobbles. Skeet is another great sport, and more geared towards hunters. It takes a little longer to learn than trap, but is a very fun game once you learn it.

Hours
Tuesday9:00 AM until 2:00 PM
Thursday & Friday3:00 PM until 8:00 PM
Saturday & Sunday9:00 AM until 2:00 PM

Our 5 Stand has 7 machines and two more coming soon! If you have never shot 5 stand, it is a whole new sport when it comes to shotgunning. Currently it is open the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month from 9am till 4pm. The 1st Saturday is an informal match open to everyone, you just need to shoot 50 targets to compete. Prizes are given away for catagories such as High Over All, High Senior, High Lady, etc. There are also randomly drawn prizes to give away, so don't be afraid to come out and make a fool of yourself with everyone else!

We also just started a Wed evening 5-stand shoot every 2nd and 4th Wednesday from 3pm- till 8pm. Come early because it fills up fast!

All of our fields are well lit and we enjoy them weekly with night shoots. We also have a large BBQ pit complete with wood, so feel free to come out with your dinner and enjoy our BBQ while you shoot.

Experienced shooters are available to help newcomers. Instruction is available.

For groups larger than ten- please call ahead of time! We love to host groups of all kinds- birthday parties, bachelor parties, church groups, fraternities, sororities, business groups and any one else that wants to come and enjoy our range. If you call ahead, a group discount can be arranged and a private time can be arranged for your group to come out. Not only can we offer group instruction and loaner guns, we have many different games that can be played that are safe and fun!

How to Play Trap
For more information about the sport of Trap shooting, visit the Amateur Trapshooting Association. For an official description of the game, see the NSSF trap description.

Here's a brief description of how to play Trap from the perspective of an outside observer. I have shot trap before (and have even shot a perfect 25), but I'm not a "regular" shooter (plus I'm a computer geek). If you're a regular shooter, this might not be how you would describe the game.

How to Play Trap

From the picture below, you can get an idea about how the game is played. Each trap field consists of two parts: the clay target thrower and the semi-circular, or radial, field of pathways -- in this case made of concrete. Up to five shooters can participate at once. Each person shoots 25 times, five times each from five positions.
